STARS IN THE HOUSE to host the 20th Anniversary Reunion of 'CAMP'

If you were a theatre kid in the early 2000s, it’s like you saw the movie ‘Camp’. The low-budget 2003 film centers on a group of teens who spend their summer at Camp Ovation. The film is based on director, Todd Graff's own experiences at a similar camp called Stagedoor Manor, where many scenes of the movie were filmed.

Among the cast were future three-time Tony nominee Robin de Jesús, future The Voice contestant Sasha Allen, and future Broadway performers DeQuina Moore, Steven Cutts, Tracee Beazer, and Brittany Pollack. It also marked the film debut of Anna Kendrick and a special cameo from Stephen Sondheim himself.

Now, I loved the film and I know many of my theatre friends do as well. This is why I’m elated to learn that Stars in the House is going to host a reunion concert of the film with many of the members of the original cast to celebrate the film’s 20th Anniversary. The event is slated to take place on Aug 23rd and will live stream on the Stars In The House YouTube channel and StarsInTheHouse.com.

According to a press release, cast members Robin de Jesus, Sasha Allen, Joanna Chilcoat, Daniel Letterle, and more, will appear. Hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, fans will be able to ask questions and make comments live.

This event will support the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), a charitable organization that supports people in the arts community who are facing difficulties. The organization has recently been a great resource for individuals who have been affected by the WGA and SAG/AFTRA strikes.

Again, I loved this film and it only furthered my passion for performing when I saw it in college. I loved it so much that I once wrote a column saying it should have been adapted as a TV series after Glee ended and even did an entire podcast about it. I probably watch it at least once every couple of years.
