Actors I Would Love to See on Broadway Someday

In terms of additions to one's resume, many actors and actresses focus on digital media, mainly movies, and television. But, sometimes, they will appear on Broadway. This would usually happen later in their career when they sometimes become a household name. But, unfortunately, these castings sometimes disrupt the theatre community for numerous reasons. Usually, when a major star is a part of a Broadway show with only TV or movie credits, it often brings up the conversation of stunt casting. Usually, these conversations die down if the person is good. In recent theatre seasons, it seemed that anyone who was anyone was appearing on Broadway.

However, a few actors or actresses haven't appeared in a show on Broadway, even if they have appeared in shows Off-Broadway, West Coast, or on the West End. For some, it may be they just haven't been given a chance to appear onstage yet anywhere in their career. Others, it might be distance. Whatever the reason, they haven't appeared even though they have proven their talent elsewhere. So, when it comes to movie and television talent, these are the names that pop into my head that would be fantastic on Broadway.

Lady Gaga

Of the names on the list, Lady Gaga is the biggest. She sells out any stadium she goes to when she goes on tour and has broken multiple records. Any major award you can think of, she has. Well, all except one: Tony. Shockingly, a person with her talent and ambition hasn't been on the Broadway stage yet. I would love to see her The Nanny: The Musical or a jukebox musical of her work. Maybe a mix of albums set in a bar? Who knows. All I know is that Lady Gaga has to be involved in Broadway at some point in her career. If the rumors online and TikTok are true, it will be sooner rather than later.

John David Washington

The only one on the list to be confirmed for Broadway is John David Washington. I would also say that he is one to watch. He has proven himself on multiple occasions to rise to the hardship of an acting piece. While he doesn't have theater experienced on his resume, it doesn't mean he shouldn't. The show, The Piano Lesson, is a great starting place for him, especially with two veteran stage actors in Danielle Brooks and Samuel L. Jackson by his side. Then, of course, I could argue that he should lead the production of Hamlet. But that is a whole other piece.

David Tennant

This man. Lord knows how much I want to see this man perform live theatre. He has done so much theatre it is crazy, just on the West End and the surrounding theatre districts. He, of course, would do a Shakespeare piece, hopefully, M- or The Tempest. Sometimes I want to shout to West End producers, "Can we borrow him for a theatre season, please? We will let you borrow Brian Stokes Mitchell, Laurie Metcalf, or Aaron Tveit." I know he is super busy, doing five separate projects at once and living in West London, and having five kids. But a girl can dream, can't she?

Jesse Plemmons

Of these names on the list, Jesse Plemons has been acting the longest. He is one of those actors you point to and go, "Oh, it's that guy." The main thing that is holding back is his career itself. He literally has multiple projects that are filming right now, making it impossible for a Broadway debut. However, once he wants to take on theatre, Broadway will be there. Jesse and Tennse Williams would be perfect together. It is only a matter of when.

Tiffany Haddish

What many people don't know about Tiffany Haddish is that she used to perform

Shakespeare monologues in high school. She has also shown her vocal chops in the movie Here Today. With Tiffany, I honestly have too many ideas to know for sure where she would shine the best. Should it be a dramatic work by August Wilson or Alice Childress? A Shakespeare work ala like Much Ado About Nothing or Pericles: Prince of Tyre and have a full-circle moment for her? Or could it be just her on stage, performing a piece based on her memoir like her co-star from Here Today Billy Crystal? The possibilities are endless.

Dev Patel

Like Tiffany Hadish, Dev Patel's career started by doing theatre in high school. He has shown that he can handle dramatic and comedic work. He has recently redeemed himself from the Avatar, The Last Airbender: The Movie. Like others on this list, he doesn't have any professional theatre experience. Again, that doesn't mean he shouldn’t. I would love to see him in Pride and Prejudice: The Play, Importance of Being Earnest, or original work.

For many, theatre is a great addition to their career. Many enjoy doing theatre more than television or film. Each of these names listed would show the world how a great performance is done. In conclusion, these are the actors and actresses who would bring show-stopping performances to Broadway that would be talked about for years to come. Thanks for reading!
