Powering Through Self-Doubt
Meghan Settle
We’ve all been there: you keep not getting cast, or someone in your class designs a large-scale show before you do. Because of this, you start to doubt yourself and wonder if you’re good at what you do or if you even belong in your program.
I’ve had those moments where I’ve questioned what I’m doing with my life and if I’m even talented enough to continue on this path. Sometimes I feel extremely inadequate, and like I just don’t belong in my top-notch program. But whenever this happens, I take a deep breath and try to remind myself that I’m here for a reason, and that I wouldn’t have been accepted to the program in the first place if I didn’t belong there.
It’s extremely important to remember that everyone is on their own journey, and that just because someone else in your program seems to be getting certain opportunities before you doesn’t mean that you won’t get the same opportunity, just at a later date.
Someone else’s successes doesn’t equal your failures. You are worthy, you are talented, and you belong right where you are. Do not let self-doubt control your life.
