OnStage Blog announces new "Stage Directions" page
OnStage Blog’s Founder, Chris Peterson, announced today the creation of a new section of the popular theatre site, “Stage Directions.”
The section will be curated by Ashley Griffin, a longtime writer for the site.
“Stage Directions” is a section for both entertainment veterans and those aspiring to join their ranks. From Broadway producers to those auditioning for performing arts high schools and colleges.
“Stage Directions” will feature articles, videos, and podcasts that provide a deep dive behind the curtain of Broadway and the entertainment industry. “Stage Directions” offers a deeper look at the things no one discusses contemporary theater. Exploring everything from the dichotomy between critical and audience reception, to whether fairy tales are important to modern-day storytelling and whether “high” and “low” musical theater can ever find a common ground, Griffin will examine ideas you “didn’t know you didn’t know.” Griffin has received special recognition for her article on “Separating Art From The Artist” which has been used in university curriculums.
“I’m thrilled to now feature ‘Stage Directions’ as an entire section on the site,” Peterson said. “Ashley is one of the most distinctive voices in theatre commentary right now, and to be able to boost her voice, is my privilege.”
Ashley Griffin is a Broadway writer/performer. As a writer, her work has been produced/developed at New World Stages, Manhattan Theatre Club, Playwrights Horizons, A.R.T., and more. Ashley won the WellLife Network Award and a county commendation for her off-Broadway play Trial (directed by Lori Petty at the American Theatre of Actors, NYC) and has been nominated for five NYIT Awards across multiple categories. She is currently an artistic associate at New York Rep. Her debut novel The Spindle was just released. As a performer, she appeared on stage at The Gershwin Theater, Lincoln Center, La MaMa, and many more, as well as in The Greatest Showman and Homeland.
