BroadwayCon Supporting SAG-AFTRA Strike, Will Go on as Planned

by Chris Peterson, OnStage Blog Founder

With the announcement of the SAG-AFTRA strike, one of the rules is that it will prohibit members from attending conventions and fan expos. Obviously this means that events like Comic-Con will be greatly impacted. But what about next week’s BroadwayCon? After all, many attending as guests and panelists are members of both AEA and SAG-AFTRA.

Well I have good news to report. As of right now, BroadwayCon will not be impacted and those guests will still be able to attend.

According to the language in the rules, SAG-AFTRA would not be allowed to attend events to promote film or TV projects, however stage theatre projects are fine.

Melissa Annelli, Founder and CEO of Mischief Management which runs BroadwayCon, tweeted the following:

Ms. Annelli was referring to an earlier tweet by Variety which laid out the rules for the strike. She also made it clear that BroadwayCon will support all unions that are striking right now.

So if you’re headed to NYC next weekend for the big event, it looks as though all your favorites are still coming. It should be an amazing weekend as BroadwayCon always is. And no blizzards this year!

Tickets to BroadwayCon are still available and can be purchased at www.broadwaycon.com
