Theatre Group Cancels Unauthorized Production of "Bombshell" Musical

In response to OnStage Blog reporting on an unauthorized performance of "Bombshell", the fictional musical from the TV show Smash, the theatre group MEDIARTRIX at the University of Santo Tomas, has canceled the production. 

In a statement sent to OnStage Blog, representatives state the following: 

The musical, which is currently under development by Universal Stage Productions, currently does not offer public use of its copyright. As we reported in the previous article, MEDIARTRIX - UST has previously produced shows such as Mamma Mia, Bonnie & Clyde and Spring Awakening as "adaptations", however their reproductions would still count as copyright infringement. 

The group previously responded by saying that they auditioned, cast and started rehearsals for the show before asking for permission from Universal Stage Productions.
