From São Paulo to NYC : A Quick Chat with Actress Tatiana Birenbaum
Gianna Principe
For the past few months, I had the very amazing pleasure of working with an amazing woman. Her name is Tatiana Birenbaum, but we all know her as Taty! I asked her a few questions about acting and why it's important to her! Everyone, Meet Taty!
1. What made you want to come to America?
I came to NYC for the first time in 2010 and I felt in love with it. The buildings, the smell, the people everything was so magical. And the people! Different kinds of people everywhere you walk. My parents always wanted to give me the opportunity to study abroad (I’m from Brazil), so when I had the chance I found a theatre school for a summer workshop. I didn’t want to go back to Brazil but I had to graduate from college. So after I graduated I found another School in NY to get my second degree - in musical theatre.
2. What do you love most about working as an actress/the theatre business?
The fact that you are always learning something new in every single situation - classes, conversations, auditions etc
3. What made you want to be an actress?
The possibility of sharing a story.
3. Your favorite show on Broadway and why?
Favorite show currently on Broadway: I think Waitress - I just identify with it and I love the music. Baking is also one of my other passions besides acting/singing. I also really love Hair and would love to be in the show.
4. What do you love most about where you live now?
Being able to people watch at all times and get good food.
5. Any advice for people who don't live in America but want to come and work as an actor!
Follow your dreams! If you think you can do it YOU CAN AND YOU WILL. And study a lot. Hard work pays off! Also be humble. No one is better than anyone.
Thank you for all your hard work Taty! Keep living your best life!
