The Cats Movie has a Release Date...

Apparently, some of you wanted it and now you're officially going to get it. The movie adaptation of Cats is confirmed for the big screen with the announcement today of its release date, Dec. 20, 2019. 

Merry Christmas. 

Interestingly enough, Cats  is actually taking the slot originally intended for the Wicked movie. But since we may never get that adaptation, Cats it is. 

The film is set to star Taylor Swift, Ian McKellen, James Corden and Jennifer Hudson as Girzabella. Les Misérables movie helmer Tom Hooper is set to direct (Get ready for extreme closeups). Production is set to take place later this year in the U.K.

Even though it's already a year away, Cats will be facing some stiff box office competition that weekend as it opens next to Star Wars Episode IX.
