Judy Garland was a preeminent star of the 20th century and a brand new biomusical titled CHASING RAINBOWS: THE ROAD TO OZ has gotten the seal of approval of no less than her daughter Liza Minnelli on its road to Broadway.

This week, Minnelli shared in a statement to Deadline.com, "My mother said that her biography is in her music, and now a talented creative team is using that music to tell the story of her early years and her extraordinary rise to fame. I’m grateful and happy they’re telling the fascinating story of her early history.”

The property by Tina Marie Casamento and directed by Denis Jones has secured endorsement by Garland’s Estate, according to estate spokesman Garry Kief, President and CEO of Stiletto Entertainment, who serves as Trustee of the Judy Garland Heirs Trust. The biomusical features a book by Marc Acito, musical adaptation by David Libby and musical direction by Larry Yurman, with historian John Fricke as a production consultant.

Following an industry reading earlier this month headlined by Ruby Rakos, the project continues on its journey around the country to finally give voice to the story of one of the most important figures in entertainment history. Is Broadway next?
