It's Today: John Malkovich Leads Harvey Weinstein Inspired Mamet Drama
Pat Cerasaro
Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet is no stranger to controversial, hot-button content in his spate of revered dramas - look no further than SPEED-THE-PLOW, GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, RACE and NOVEMBER for proof of that - but he may even outdo his resplendent resume with his latest offering.
Tackling the downfall of one of Hollywood's biggest players via a storm of sexual misconduct allegations, Mamet's BITTER WHEAT brings the Harvey Weinstein story to the stage for the first time in a thinly-veiled guise, with stage and screen star John Malkovich leading the cast. Joining Malkovich will be Doon Mackichan and Ioanna Kimbook, under the direction of Mamet. Additional casting will be announced soon.
BITTER WHEAT will play a limited run at London's Garrick Theatre from June 7 until September 14.
