Ours, Ours, Ours! 1776 Broadway Revival Confirmed For 2021

Tony Award-winning Best Musical 1776 will return to Broadway in a new 2021 revival production according to an official announcement this week.

Beginning in May 2020, the Diane Paulus-directed revival will play at the American Repertory Theater before several subsequent stops throughout the country prior to its Broadway premiere at the American Airlines Theater in 2021.

Penned by Sherman Edwards and Peter Stone, 1776 won the Tony Award for Best Musical and enjoyed a healthy three-year run on Broadway beginning in 1969, followed by a well-regarded 1972 film adaptation featuring the majority of the original Broadway cast. A 1997 revival was presented by the Roundabout Theatre Company and a limited Encores! run showcased the historical hit in 2016 at City Center.
