While theaters continuing to remain temporarily dark, due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Latino Theater Company at the Los Angeles Theatre Center is flashing on the lights by starting a new virtual series of online discussions hosted by marketing director Xavi Moreno.

On Friday, May 15 at 4 p.m., company member Geoffrey Rivas will join Moreno on Facebook Live to share his journey and career as an actor.

Geoff was in the UCLA School of Theatre, Film and Television program the same years that I was there. This talented actor and director was one of the first in our class to appear in a commercially successful motion picture “La Bamba.” I remember sitting in movie theatre thrilled for him to be up on the big screen.

Accolades include being a recipient of an Ovation Award nomination for his role as Martin in Sam Shepard’s “Fool for Love,” and numerous film and TV credits including “Born in East L.A.” and “Little Assassin.”

He has developed and directed LTC production of “The Latina Christmas Special,” and last year I reviewed his shows “Home” written and performed by Nancy Ma, and gave him a standing ovation for his role as Eduardo in “Canyon.”

Additional conversations planned include going behind the scenes of the Latino Theatre Company on May 20 at 4 p.m. PDT: “Check-In with the LATC Techs,” and on Friday, May 22 at 4 p.m. PDT grab your favorite beverage and enjoy “A Glass with the Company,”converstaions with the entire Latino Theater Company
