20 & Under Sing 20 & Over- Act 2
In October of last year, virtual cabaret 20 & Under Sing 20 & Over premiered on YouTube for Broadway lovers all around, and after the positive feedback and success received, it is back for round two!
The show, which doubles as a fundraiser for The Actor’s Fund, is a celebration of Broadway musicals written at least twenty years ago and featuring rising stars under the age of twenty, who are paired in duets with actors from the touring or Broadway company of each show.
Artists featured include Kara Lindsay (Newsies!, Wicked, Beautiful:The Carole King Musical), Liana Hunt (Newsies!, Mamma Mia!), Ali Ewoldt (Les Miserables, The King and I, The Phantom of the Opera), Paige Davis (Chicago, National tours: Sweet Charity, Beauty and the Beast), NaTasha Yvette Williams (The Color Purple, Waitress), Beth Leavel (42nd Street, The Drowsy Chaperone), Catherine Brunell (Mean Girls, Something Rotten), Joshua Franklin (The Prom, Anything Goes, Legally Blonde), Ashley Spencer (Hairspray, Grease), Sasha Hutchings (Oklahoma!, Hamilton) and Joshua Dela Cruz (Aladdin, Blues Clues and You).
Actors will be paired with rising stars Lexie Bentinganan, Victory Brinker, Gracie Bryant, Chloë Cheers, Mariangeli Collado, Erin Engleman, Kaileigh Fiorillo, Mia Cherise Hall, Ty-Gabriel Jones, Hayden Poe and J.P. Ross.
The origin of the showcase started with the notion that the pandemic cancelled all opportunities for live performance for months. Creator, director and music producer Jorden Amir created the event both to give audiences a chance to watch live theatre again, and to help actors out by raising money for The Actors Fund, who has been able to help support actors through COVID-19 emergency funds.
“I’m beyond excited to be reprising ‘20 & Under Sing 20 & Over’ with a brand new set of classic shows, and an incredible all-star cast,” says Amir. “Act I got overwhelmingly great feedback, and I feel that it’s important to continue to highlight Broadway's current and rising talent, it’s history, and music that’s loved by so many.”
20 & Under SIng 20 & Over will air in late March through YouTube Live. A link to view the show will be released to the public in the coming weeks.
