“Find happiness in the everyday…” Meet The Prom’s Becca Lee!

"I would like you to meet the talented Becca Lee. She is currently performing in the ensemble of “The Prom” on Broadway at The Longacre Theatre. This season has been fantastic when it comes to love and acceptance, and this musical comedy I feel fits that message well when it comes to accepting one another, owning up to who you are and caring for others who aren’t like you. I was delighted to have the chance to interview her.

“At this performance the role of…” Chatting with Dear Evan Hansen’s Roman Banks

I would like you to meet Roman Banks. Roman is currently the understudy for Evan, Jared and Connor in Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway at The Music Box Theatre. On December 12th Roman made history by becoming the first Evan Hansen of color. I can only imagine how amazing that feeling must have been for Roman. It's Today! : Freddie Mercury, Elton John & Prince

Although jukebox musicals showcasing songwriters' catalogs are preponderant on the Great White Way - look no further than the currently running BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL, SUMMER: THE DONNA SUMMER MUSICAL, The Go-Go's HEAD OVER HEELS and THE CHER SHOW for proof of that - they have not set Hollywood alight in the same manner; at least not until now.

Strangely, original movie musicals utilizing the songstacks of some of the biggest artists in music history have generally failed to catch on with audiences in the 21st century. Indeed, for every MAMMA MIA!-sized smash hit there are several box office duds, such as Bob Dylan tuner I'M NOT THERE, Cole Porter revue DE-LOVELY and The Beatles phantasmagoria ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. Even the big screen version of the Tony Award-winning jukebox biomusical that kicked off the trend on Broadway, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons showcase JERSEY BOYS, was relatively DOA when it hit cinemas a few years ago. But, thankfully, that trend seems to be coming to an end.

THE LION KING Roars Again

Everything old is new again in Hollywood and no greater evidence of that fact is the spate of silver screen revivals coming fast and furious from the House of Mouse. The enviable worldwide box office receipts of recent live-action revivals of CINDERELLA, THE JUNGLE BOOK and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to the collective tune of $2 billion is proof in the pudding that audiences are lapping up the opportunity to revisit the popular properties that informed their childhoods, while also introducing the internationally recognized entities to an entirely new generation. This holiday weekend, Disney offered the preliminary glimpse of the silver screen reboot of a particularly beloved animated masterpiece from 1994, THE LION KING, to universal adulation.
