Can we talk about the amazingness that is the #maninamusical series?

HE’S RIGHT MEN KNOW BEST!!! So, there has been a little series that has been breaking the (musical theatre) internet! If you have not seen any of the videos that Katie Johantgen and James Penca have created you are TRULY missing out. Known as the #maninamusical series it is them (Johantgen and Penca) basically showcasing the certain “clichés” that occur in musicals. Let me tell you, no matter how long you have done theatre, odds are you have done several of these.

I think what makes me enjoy these videos is a couple of things. 1.) They are beyond spot on 2.) Both Johantgen and Penca are SO committed in them. And 3.) It is a strong reminder for all musical theatre performers (or artist in general) that you have to be able to laugh at yourself. From what I have been told Katie Johantgen is the one that directs these videos. They are everything and I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing these two-artist featured at the 2020 Tony Awards in some way shape or form just showcasing these clichés throughout the show! I know the Tonys might come off farfetched but I just honestly think these short videos are everything and truly definitely worth checking out. If you have 2 or 3 minutes to spare out of your day (I’m not kidding none of them exceed 15 seconds) you should definitely check them out!

How to sit on a chair if you’re a woman in a musical (Just the leg and ab workouts women have to go through just to sit down in a musical lol) 

How to open a door if you’re a man in a musical (I just directed a musical and literally without even realizing it gave an actor in the show a note to enter this way!)
