Three iconic theatre artists will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at this year's Tony Awards ceremony according to an official announcement this week.
Multiple Tony Award winner Terrence McNally will be feted, after having previously received trophies for LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION! and MASTER CLASS as well as the books for Tony Award-winning musicals KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN and RAGTIME.
Legendary actress Rosemary Harris won a Tony Award for THE LION IN WINTER in 1966 besides having appeared in nearly 50 productions over her illustrious career. Additionally, she has received an Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award for her television and film appearances. She currently can be seen on Broadway in the lauded Lincoln Center Theater revival of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY.
Harold Wheeler may be best known to audiences as the music director of long-running reality competition series DANCING WITH THE STARS, but his theatrical credits are equally impressive. His unmistakable orchestrations include the original productions of THE WIZ, DREAMGIRLS, THE TAP DANCE KID, SIDE SHOW and HAIRSPRAY, among others. Wheeler's orchestrations can currently be heard in The Temptations revue AIN'T TO PROUD.
