Marin Mazzie, Judith Light & More Receive Special 2019 Tony Awards

The Broadway headliner, who died last year, and a two-time winner are among this year's special honorees.
Three-time Tony Award nominee Marin Mazzie joins two-time winner Judith Light, CHOIR BOY's musical arranger Jason Michael Webb and KING KONG's puppet designer Sonny Tilders of Creature Technology Company in accepting special awards at this year's Tony Awards ceremony.
American Theatre Wing President Heather Hitchens and Broadway League President Charlotte St. Martin commented earlier today in in a joint statement, stating, "These artists have demonstrated outstanding passion and dedication... Sonny and Creature Technology Company’s KONG embodies extraordinary design, technical complexities and sophisticated emotional capabilities. Jason’s a cappella arrangements in CHOIR BOY are transformative. Marin was and is a beacon of light for our community, by advocating for women’s health issues."
In additional to Isabelle Stevenson Award recipient Light and honorees Webb and Tilders, special Tony Awards will be presented to Broadway Inspirational Voices, Peter Entin, Joseph Blakely Forbes and FDNY Engine 54, who will each receive Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre, as well as Regional Theatre Tony Award honoree TheatreWorks Silicon Valley and Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre recipients Terrence McNally, Rosemary Harris and Harold Wheeler.
The 2019 Tony Awards will be presented at Radio City Music Hall on June 9 with host James Corden, airing on CBS at 8 PM.
